Mangalore: Legal Awareness essential for migrant labors - Judge N S Patil

Mangalore, 16 Aug 2014: The migrant laborers are increasingly arriving in Dakshina Kannada district in the recent past, to work in industries and building construction. At this backdrop, there lies greater need to create legal awareness, said senior civil judge N S Patil.
Patil was speaking after inaugurating legal awareness programme for the building construction workers that was organized jointly by district Legal Services Authority, Bar Association and labor department, at Planet S K S Builders, here on Saturday August 16.
The laborers arriving in Dakshina Kannada district from different states of India are deprived of facilities. The legal awareness can help the laborers to available their rightful benefits. The labor department and legal awareness Authority is ready to organize campaigns in this regard, said Patil.
Speaking on the occasion, the district legal services Authority secretary judge Ganesh B urged laborers to get ID cards from labor department. They can avail the benefits that are meant for them and their families. The leniency is not justified, said judge Ganesh.
The assistant labor commissioner D J Nagesh presided the programme.
The labor officer M Anandamurti offered information on state benefits for laborers.
Bar Association president Ashok Ariga, district information officer Khadersha, Planet S K S Builders manager Madan were present.
The senior labor inspector Kumar compered the programme.
