Male students don saffron shawls to oppose burqas in college
Sullia, 31 Aug 2016: Resorting to an unusual way of protest, few male students of a government college in Sullia have started wearing saffron shawls over their shirts to oppose college management’s stand for not taking suitable action against the students of the other community who wear burqa repeatedly to the college.
The students have said that they will continue this practise till the principal takes suitable action against the female students wearing burqa.
The action of the students has evoked sharp criticism on the social media as well as from locals who are of the view that it may lead to communal clashes in the institution.

I guess soon they will be bored and tired and back to normal. My personal opinion is, there should be a uniform dress code for all students without exception! Religion practices should be kept miles away from educational institution and public life, be it any religion! | |

College authorities should respect the male students right to wear the saffron shawl. Just as the girls have a right to wear the burqa |
