Bantwal: Widely spoken language has bright chances to sustain longer – Minister Rai

Bantwal, 14  Oct 2015: The more a language is widely spoken, chances of going extinct are bleak. The governments established Academies for sustaining languages and its distinct cultures, said Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai.   

 

The minister Rai was speaking after inaugurating Beary literature and cultural splendor that was organized as part of Beary language’s monthly celebration by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy at Anugraha Women’s College, Goltamajalu, near here on Tuesday October 13.

 

‘Beary language is significant, while its literature indeed enthuse the one who reads,’ said minister Rai. Meanwhile, he called on the native speakers to foster the language.

 

 

The Academy president B A Mohammed Hanif presided the programme.

 

The minister Rai also released Professor B M Ichlangodu authored Beary book, Naanum-Neenum-Duniyavum, on the same occasion. Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura congratulated Professor Ichlangodu for bringing out the book. Beary-Kannada-English dictionary sub-editor Abdul Rehman Kuttettoor read the foreword of the book.

The minister Rai felicitated retired teacher Abdul Salam master, Sanmarga – Kannada weekly editor Abdul Khader Kukkila, veteran poet Rahim B C Road and district award recipient B Abubakkar Bardila during the programme.

 

Academy member Abdul Hameed Goltamajalu, Abdul Latif Neralakatte and Zachariah Kalladka were present at the dais.

 

Academy registrar Umarabba welcomed the gathering. The president Mohammed Hanif delivered the introductory address. The member Latif Neralakatte proposed vote fo thanks. The member Abdul Hameed Goltamajalu compered the programme.

 

Variety cultural shows were staged as part of valedictory function.
