Shankarapura parishioners celebrate Feast of All Souls Day

Udupi/Pangala, 02 Nov 2014: The feast of All Souls Day was celebrated at St John the Evangelist parish, Pangla - Shankerapura here on Sunday November 2.
 
St John the Evangelist parish priest Fr Leslie D’Souza celebrated the festal Holy Mass along with Fr Lawrence D’Souza here on Sunday at 7.00am.
 
Fr Leslie in his homily laid emphasis on praying for the dead. He also stressed the need to remember the souls of family members and pray for them.
 
After the Holy Mass, the congregation gathered near the Church Cemetery to recall and pray for the souls of their beloved ones. The family members stood beside the tombs of their dear ones and offered their prayers.

 

 

Fr Lawrence blessed and unveiled the newly-erected statues depicting the Calvary Scene at the cemetery.
 
The cemetery is a holy place where the faithful are laid to rest and therefore the Holy Church regards it to pray for the departed souls.
