Delay tactics of public servants equals to corruption – DC

Mangalore, Oct 28, 2014: The slow process in discharging duties by the public servants and delay in providing services is equal to corruption, said Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim.

 

DC Ibrahim was speaking after inaugurating Anti-Corruption Week at the district headquarters here on Monday October 27. The Anti-Corruption Week will be observed from October 27 to November 1.

 

‘The corruption menace poses challenge to efficient administration in rendering quality service to general public. Meanwhile, the corruption and mutual understanding with public servants is also dangerous for better society. If every public servant commits for efficient service in his line of duty, the democracy will succeed,’ said DC Ibrahim.

 

 

DC Ibrahim appealed to the public servants to swiftly respond to the grievances of people, because Dakshina Kannada district administration has been known for better governance since the past. It’s the duty of public servants to get justice for common man, said DC Ibrahim.

 

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Sadasiv Prabhu said that Central Vigilance Commission advised to observe Anti-Corruption Week that aims to shun corruption in all departments of public administration and to follow transparency for better governance, said ADC Prabhu. He also said, ‘It should not be observed just for the sake of it,’ said ADC Prabhu. The general public should benefit out of it, added ADC Prabhu.   

 

Mangalore sub-division officer Dr Ashok said that the public servants have to fight the corruption out of their own conscience. If the public servants respond without bias and nothing in return, it will help to maintain transparency in administration.

 

The deputy director of food and civil supplies Sharanabasappa also spoke on the occasion.

 

The public servants serving in district administration took an oath against corruption.
