Karkal: Banks had to serve ordinary customers – MP Shobha

Karkal, Oct 16, 2014: The co-operative banks emerged when the peoples’ aspirations were not realized despite the nationalization of banks. The co-operative banks were trusted by the ordinary customers as they offered personalized banking services that have contributed for the rapid growth of co-operative sector. The banks ought to serve the common folks, said Udupi – Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje.

 

MP Shobha was speaking after inaugurating the new branch of Vikasa Vividoddesha Souharda Sahakari Bank at Sanjeev Kundar Complex, located nearby Belman bus stand, here on Wednesday October 15. 

 

‘Jan Dhan Yojana has become successful in bringing banking facilities to common man,’ said MP Shobha.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel after inaugurating strong room said that the undivided Dakshina Kannada district has been the cradle of co-operative movement that has created history in 100 percent recovery of loans. The veterans of co-operative movement in the nation are belonging to undivided Dakshina Kannada district. The global financial turndown has not affected our country, because co-operative sector works as backbone of our nation. The co-operative sector significantly contributed for national economy and also strengthened the trust of common man, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

 

Belman – Durgaparameshwari temple chief priest Vedamurti Vignesh Bhat released the fixed deposit certificates.

 

Belman – St Joseph’s parish priest Fr Lawrence B D’Souza released the share certificates.

Karkal MLA and Vikasa Vividoddesha Souharda Sahakari Bank chairman V Sunil Kumar in his presidential address said that Bank will open its next branch at Hebri shortly. Besides, it has the target of opening 100 branches. It will create new job opportunities, and offer all facilities to customers including e-stamping, said MLA Sunil.

 

Vikasa Vividoddesha Souharda Sahakari Bank deputy chairman B Sadashiv Shetty delivered the introductory address. Navinchandra Jain welcomed the gathering. Sridar Gowda compered the programme. Shobha R Devadiga proposed vote of thanks.
