Mangalore: City bus mows waiting youth at Bendorewell

Mangalore, Aug 28, 2014: A youth who was waiting for the bus died at the spot when a city bus mowed him when the driver precariously tried to overtake another bus injuring 2 more persons at Bendorewell here on Thursday August 28.

 
The deceased has been identified as Tilak, who hails from Panemangalore, in Bantwal taluk, while the identity of the injured is yet to be known.



The driver of the bus, Ashpak fled from the scene soon after the accident.

 
The eyewitnesses said that city bus bearing route number 51 ran over the bus stand and hit the deceased in a bid to overtake another bus.

 
The Kadri police sub-inspector T D Nagaraj who arrived at the spot registered a case in this regard.

 
The traffic police struggled to control the crowd and pave the way for the traffic at one of the busiest junctions of the city as the curious crowd gathered in large numbers.
