St. John the Baptist II Ward celebrates the feast of patron

Moodubelle, 24 Jun 2013: The families of St. John the Baptist II Ward celebrated the feast of their patron saint on Sunday, June  23, 2013 at 4 pm in the house of Josephine Noronha.  The stage programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of Moodubelle. Rev. Fr. Robert Lasrado (OFM-Cap), Director of Assisi Nilaya  was the guest of honour. Ms Theresa Lobo, gurkarn of St. John the Baptist I ward was also present as guest.

 

Mrs. Gladys Rebello, gurkarn of St. John the Baptist I ward welcomed the guests and members of the ward. Mrs. Maria Noronha welcomed the guests with flowers. The programme started with prayer. Secretary of the ward, Mrs. Monica D’Almeida read the report of the activities of the ward during the last year.

 

 

In his message, Rev. Fr. Robert Lasrado  highlighted the role of St. John the Baptist in preparing the way to Jesus Christ and his struggle for truth and justice and appealed the ward members to follow the path of their patron saint. He also asked the people to keep their faith alive and wished them well on the occasion of the feast of their patron saint.

 

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that the ward members meet and share their feelings through the Small Christian Community. He further said that everyone should live a life that is appreciated by others. Small children should be shaped into responsible members of the community by developing in them a spirit of morning and evening prayers and Rosary; they should be encouraged to attend Sunday Christian education classes. Good values should be imbibed in them thus making them responsible citizens.

 

The children of the war, Priya, Flavina and Isha entertained the gathering through their dances and songs. War representative, Robert D’Souza conducted an interesting Quiz Competition based on the theme of ‘Year of Faith’. The winners  were Theresa Lobo, Mary D’Silva and Veena Rebello who were given prizes.

 

Meritorious students were honoured during the ward feast.  These included Amith D’Almeida who has secured second rank in second PU Science and Glen Rebello who had won gold medal in the taluk level quiz competition organized by Navodaya.

 

Rohna D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks  and the programme was compeered by Lloyd Rebello. Snacks and tea-coffee sponsored by Mrs. Josephine Noronha and family were distributed to all those who were present for the ward feast.
