Hassan: District Police Return Stolen Items worth over Rs 20 Lac to Respective Owners

Hassan, 21 Jun 2013 : The district police department handed over the recovered stolen items including, gold and silver ornaments, two-wheelers, TVs, mobile handsets worth Rs 20,87,552 to the bona fide owners here on Thursday June 20.

 

SO Amit Singh handed over the stolen items that were recovered from accused in all over the district to the respective owners, during a function held at Police Parade grounds, here on Thursday.

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that 26 persons were arrested in 20 theft cases in the limits of 5 police circles of district and recovered jewellery, two-wheers etc worth Rs 20,87,552.  Besides, legal actions were taken on other accused in criminal cases, said Singh.

 

SP Singh also distributed cash awards to police officers and policemen for their breakthrough in solving the cases at the same occasion.

 

Addressing the media persons, SP Singh said that when compared to 2012, the theft cases registered in district are lesser this year, despite this, night patrols are intensified in the city, said SP Singh.

 

SP Singh further said that the district police is hopeful of nabbing the accused related to Canara Bank ATM robbery as they have vital clues in this regard.  A proposal has been forwarded to state authorities to approve mobile police stations and outposts in different locations across the district, said SP Singh.
