Udupi: Puja Celebrations held at Banyan Tree developed by Gabriel Nazareth at Kallugudde

Udupi,12 May 2013: The puja celebrations were held for a banyan tree that was restored to sanctity by building a wall around and shade of asbestos sheets by Gabriel Nazareth, which lies in the his property at Kallugudde, near Padoor that comes under the limits of Majoor gram panchayat, here on Saturday May 10.

At the backdrop of an astrologer revealed that the cobra and its siblings are inhabited in the precinct of banyan tree and if its developed the local residents will have better lives; the landlord of the tree built a wall around and laid the shade at a cost of Rs 4 lac with the full support of the local Hindu brethrens.

 

Gabriel began the practice of inviting the people different faith, caste and creed to attend the annual religious celebrations at the tree on his own cost.

As a coincidence, the long-pending asphalting works on an access road here was undertaken and peace reigns amongst the people in the locality.

The religious celebrations were held at the venue at the leadership of Prasanna Acharya Nitte and Gururaj Bhat here on Saturday.  The local elders Dayanand and Shobha Poojary and Gabriel Nazareth and hundreds of locals were present.
