People ask Panchayath to repair Kemmannu road

Kemmannu, Udupi, 29 April 2012: The road of Urdu School in Padu Thonse is full of potholes and can cause severe accidents in the rainy season. Therefore the local people have submitted petitions to the Kemmannu Grama Panchayath, Jilla Panchayath and Taluk Panchayath urging them to repair the road and to provide proper drainage gutters for the rain water to flow off.

 

 
In the low areas of the main road the water has deposited due to the pouring rain in the last two days, making it very difficult for the public and the vehicle drivers. Even though this problem is repeating since the last 4 – 5 years, so far it has not been solved. The local people have accused in their petition that the people’s representatives are not bothered on this.

 
Many two wheeler riders have fallen off from their vehicle and injured due to the potholes which are everywhere in this road. People who are walking on either side of the road get the mud water sprayed while the vehicles pass. The dirty water which is deposited in the low areas, gets into the drinking water wells because there are no proper drainages for it to flow off. Hence the whole area is now polluted, they said in the petition.

 
Therefore, if the drainages are constructed on either side of the roads in the low level areas, it will be a permanent solution to this problem. The concerned persons should inspect the location immediately and this problem has to be sorted out before the rainy season begins and should resolve the problems happening to the public, it is said in the petition.
