Good Friday Celebrated in Holy Cross Church Pamboor

Pamboor, 06 April 2012: The Good Friday ceremony started at 4:15pm with the Way of the Cross outside the church. The people from each ward stood in 14 groups and a person from each ward was selected to conduct the Way of the Cross  at each Station of the Cross.

 

 
After the Way of the Cross the next ceremony  started at 5pm. Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis and Fr..Dancy Martis were the main celebrants of this ceremony. After the reading of the Passion of the Christ, Fr. Dancy in his homily highlighted the significance of Good Friday by narrating the supreme sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross for the salvation of mankind. He narrated examples to explain the importance of the sufferings and death of Jesus on the Cross.

 
 After the sermon there were prayers and invocations for various intentions of the church. After the prayers Crucifix was uncovered at three stages following which  the priests venerated the Cross and thereafter the people also venerated the Cross coming in two  lines each  in two isles as the priests held the Crucifix.

 
The Good Friday’s liturgical service ended with communion a t6:45pm.
