World TB Day observed with Poster Competition at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Manipal, 25 March 2012: On the occasion of World TB Day Poster Competition was organized at Kasturba Hospital Manipal in association with Dept of Medical and Surgical Nursing of MCON, Manipal to create awareness among general public about the causes, care and prevention of TB.

 

 

The Poster Compaction on TB Day was inaugurated by Dr R R Pulgaonkar, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. Dr Ashwinikumar Mohapatra, Head Dept of Pulmonary Medicine was present.

World TB Day, falling onMarch 24th each year, is designed to build public awareness that tuberculosis today remains an epidemic in much of the world, causing the deaths of several million people each year, mostly in developing countries.

Theme for the TB Day 2012 is “Stop TB in YOUR lifetime “. The objective of World TB Day 2012 is to achieve the following :
1.Zero deaths from TB
2.Faster treatment
3.A quick, cheap, low-tech test
4.An effective vaccine
5.A world free of TB.
