Pulse Polio Day organized at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Manipal, 20 Febraury 2012:Immunisation campaign was organized at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal Dr. (Col) R R Pulgaonkar, Medical Superintendent inaugurates the program.Pulse Polio is an immunization campaign established by the government of India in 1995-96 to eradicate “Polio” in India by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against polio virus. This project deals with the ways to fight polio through a large scale immunization program, co-operating with various international institutions, state governments and Non Governmental Organizations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Col) R R Pulgaonkar, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal said, the Pulse Polio Immunization program is a success story in India, in bringing down the number of polio affected people. He urged the people of nearby areas to utilize the various such camps organized by the state governments and Non Governmental Organizations and help eradicating polio from the world.
Dr.(Mrs)Pushpa G Kini, Professor & Head of Department of Paediatrics, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal; Dr.(Mrs) Nalini Bhaskaranand, Professor and Unit Head of Paediatrics, Dr. Pratap Kumar, Professor and Unit Head of OBG, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal were present on the Occasion. The Program was jointly organized by JCI, Manipal Hill City and Lion & Lioness Club of Manipal.
