DKA’s ’Meet the Writer’ Programme

Goa, 26 January 2012: Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) for the first time will be organizing a programme titled ’Meet the Writer’ to meet and hear Bonaventure D’Pietro, an eminent Konkani writer, on January 27th , 2012 (Friday) at 4.30 pm at Tiatr Academy Goa’s Hall, Campal, Panjim.

In 1958 D’Pietro wrote his first novel "Soitanacho Ghutt" (The Mystery of Satan ) at a very young age of 15. ’Soitanacho Ghutt’ was published in parts in the Konkani section of the then Portuguese daily ’O Heraldo’. He has 14 publications to his credit, including 8 novels on various issues related to society.

 

 

These are Kallea Vistidachi Choli, Clara, Mhojea Paicho Fondd, From Goa With Love, Ek Bhett Mungllurachea Xharak, Jimmy, Tichea Mornna Uprant and Janya-Celi. Another novel, titled Sankoll based on the different wedding cultures in all the talukas of Goa is underway.

D’Pietro is not only a creative writer but also a musician who plays numerous blowing instruments. Besides contributing to numerous dailies, weeklies, monthlies in Konknni in Romi script, he has served as assistant editor of various newspapers and magazines in Konknni Romi script.

For his rich and valuable contribution to Konknni in Romi scrpit, D’Pietro was honoured by conferring many prestigious awards in the field of Konknni.
