Udupi: Ravi Shastri visits Karvalu for a special reason

Udupi, 08 December 2011: There is special belief about the origin of Naga or Snake. In search of the Naga origin, Cricketer Ravi Shastri who had earlier come to Karvalu, Udupi, has been coming here every year and again came here on Tuesday for the fifth time. He was busy with the commentary of the India – West Indies 3rd One Day Cricket match until late night on Monday in Ahmadabad, but was in Karvalu on Tuesday afternoon and there is a special reason for his visits here.

 

 
This is his fifth visit to the Nagalaya of Vishnumurthy Temple in Karvalu. Originaly from the coastal area Ravi Shastri did not have children even after 18 years of marriage. When he enquired on this he was advised to visit the Naga origin. Accordingly he came to Karvalu of Karkala Taluk in search of his Naga origin. His ancestors had left this place four generations ago. Ravi Shastri strongly believes that, only after he offered his prayers here he had a daughter, so that is the reason he visits here every year.
 
After the regular visits of Ravi Shastri this place has become famous and also the villagers wait for his arrival. Even this time the villagers gave warm welcome to Shastri family. In the presence of the villagers Ravi Shastri offered prayers to Naga and Vishnumurthy. He was proudly felicitated by the villagers. The villagers remember his special contribution to the development of the School and Temple of the village.
 
Ravi Shastri’s daughter is now 4 years old. The visits will continue it seems in future also. The villagers have the pride that the village has become famous all over the country because of Ravi Shastri. And Ravi Shastri believes that he found happiness after he found his original place.
