Hiriyadka: Udupi Taluk Beedi workers conduct protest

Hiriyadka, 31 October 2011: Led by the Udupi Taluk Beedi Labour Union regulated with the A.I.T.U.C., conducted huge protest rally in front of the Beedi Workers’s Mobile Clinic in Hiriyadka. Before this the Beedi workers conducted protest procession in Hiriyadka town and shouted slogans on their demands. The protest was led by Udupi Taluk Beedi Labour Union President Shantha Nayak, Vice President Ananda Poojary, Rama Moolya Shirva, Sumati Shetty, Shashikala, Seniors of Udupi Taluk Beedi Labour Union Sanjeeva Serigar and Raju Poojary.

 

 
On this occasion, South Canara Beedi Worker’s Federation General Secretary V.S. Berinja, Union General Secretary B. Shekar, leaders Suresh Kumar, M. Karunakara, K.V. Bhat spoke and submitted a petition of 11 demands for implementing the welfare projects from the Beedi Worker’s welfare fund, to the Welfare Director through the Medical Doctors. Receiving the petition Dr. Dikshit assured that he will send the petition to the Commissioner and will discuss the issue in the relavent meeting. At the end Union Treasurer K.V. Bhat proposed vote of thanks.
