Udupi: K.K. Hebbar memorial special award declared

Udupi, 19 September 2011: In memory of the most popular in the field of art Dr. Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar who created a new style of painting called Hebbar style, a special felicitation award with rupees 1 lakh cash will be established and will be awarded to the artist who does the outstanding achievement in the field, from next year onwards, announced Udupi district In charge Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya.
 
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the 3 days birth centenary celebrations of Dr. K.K. Hebbar on Sunday conducted in MGM College. Speaking further he said that, plans will be made to establish K.K. Hebbar Pratistana to study his achievements. Interested organizations should come forward to participate and grow this Pratistana he said.

 

 
 
On this occasion Minister Dr. Acharya released the second volume of the book on Art and Life on K.K. Hebbar written by popular scholar K.S. Haridas Bhat. Centenary celebration committee President and Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.T. Reju, Art Critic C.S. Krishna Shetty, Vidhana Parishad Member Kota Shrinivasa Poojary were present.
 
Taluk Panchayath President Devdas Hebbar welcomed the guests and the gathering. District Kannada and Culture Deputy Director S.H. Shivarudrappa proposed vote of thanks. On the occasion of the birth centenary celebration a painting competition was held for the students on Sunday at St. Lawrence Pre University College Moodubelle, near Kattingeri, which is the birth place of Hebbar. A painting camp was also held by the artists of undivided D.K. district at MGM College. These paintings were exhibited on Sunday.
 
In the concluding ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of Dr. K.K. Hebbar, the committee had prepared a petition with 8 points, which has been submitted to the government through Dr. V.S. Acharya. In the list the petitions mentioned are; Hebbar postal stamp, half yearly fellowship from the government, establishment of K.K. Hebbar Art Centre, establishment of Art gallery in the name of K.K. Hebbar, introduction of K.K. Hebbar in school books, K.K. Hebbar’s name to Kattingeri Government School, name of Hebbar to Udupi city street and placing Hebbar’s picture in Deputy Commissioner’s Office among the achievers of the district.
