Udupi: Hoax call on bomb causes panic at Krishna Mutt

Udupi, 18 September 2011: A phone call, that the bomb is planted under the Kanaka tower on Friday night caused panic at Krishna Mutt premises. Later it was found to be a hoax call. In the night at about 11.40 pm this call came to Udupi city Police Station, immediately the police rushed towards the Mutt. Since it was midnight there were no people at Mutt. The matter was informed to Shiruru Shree and then Kanaka tower, Rathabeedi and inside Krishna Mutt areas were all searched inch by inch for up to 3.00 am. But there was no materials found that can cause panic.

 

 
Regarding this matter Superintendent of Police Dr. Ravikumar said that, this is a hoax call made by some mischief. The call number has been identified. The call was made from the computer, investigation is in process, he said. The security to Krishna Mutt has been increased. Metal detectors which were put off for no power have been commissioned once again. 12 Police staff have been assigned and have kept a vigilance on the crowd. Speaking on this issue, Shiruru Mutt Divana Lathvya said that, though this was a hoax call, it has scared every one. The private security of the Mutt will be increased. He also urged that the Police security also should be increased.
