Shirva, 14 September 2011: An elderly man was brutally killed with sword by a mentally ill person in Payyaru of Kalatturu Grama on Sunday night. The deceased Jogappa Shetty (92) was killed by local resident Umesh. There is no specific reason for the killing. It is suspected that since he was mentally ill he must have committed the murder.
 
Jogappa Shetty had slept after dinner on Sunday night. His son Dejappa Shetty and daughter-in-law Yashoda Shetty had slept in a room inside. On Monday morning when they saw, the front door was partially open and nearby Dejappa Shetty had collapsed. Seeing the blood on him, she called her husband. Later with the help of neighbours they called the 108 ambulance. The doctors in the ambulance confirmed that he was dead.
 
Near the house of Jogappa Shetty, two brothers Umesh and santhosh are living, both of them are mentally ill. Among the brothers Umesh has the habit of carrying stick or sword, so he only has asked my father in law to open the door and has killed him by stabbing to head and other parts of the body, mentioned Yashoda Shetty in her complaint to the Shirva Police Station. Accordingly the Police have taken both brothers into custody and conducted investigation. At that time it was confirmed that Umesh was the killer and he has been arrested.
 
 
Udupi, 14 September 2011: With the concrete slab of a mosque under construction collapsing in Shanthinagara of Badagubettu Grama the workers are seriously injured on Monday evening. The injured worker Vittala Ballapa Chimmalagi resident of Hulikeri, Badami Taluk, Bagalkot district was pouring the concret for the slab, at that time the wooden supports under the slab formwork slipped and the slab collapsed down, along with it Vittala Balappa Chimalagi had head injury.
 
Other workers Suma, Saroja, Paravva, Manthappa, Yamunavva, Chinnaswamy, Hanumantha and others had injuries to their hands and legs. As per the complaint given by Chimalagi the case has been registered in Udupi Police Station.
 
 
Byndoor, 14 September 2011: An incident of kidnapping of a married woman has taken place in Goligundi mane of Shiroor Grma on Monday. Shoba is the woman kidnapped, she is the wife of Shridhara. She was standing and talking to her mother in law Girija on the courtyard of their house.
 
At that time the accused Dayananda Poojary a resident of Aramane Hithlu Grama came in a vehicle and forcefully pulled Shoba into the vehicle and kidnapped, mentioned Girija in her complaint to the Baindoor Police Station. Police have said that the reason for the kidnapping not yet known.
 
Brahmavara, 13 September 2011: Four youths attempted to kidnap a person from Jathabettu of Uppoor Grama and finally took his car away on Sunday night. Four youths of age 25 – 30 tried to forcefully kidnap U. Vignaraja Madhyastha a resident near Pilkala Garadi, but when he screamed they tried to shut his mouth resulting scuffle and Madhyasta has his tooth broken in right jaw.
 
Finally the kidnappers pulled the key of maruthi ritz car from Madhyasta which is not yet registered and costing 6.5 lakh and drove it away. As per the complaint given by Madhyasta the kidnappers were talking in Tulu language, the complaint has been registered in Brahmavara Police Station.
 
 
Kota, 14 September 2011: A woman in Kasanagundu of Manoor Taluk died by the snake bite on Monday. The deceased is Saraswthi Shetty (70). She was working in the paddy fields along with her daughter Susheela Shetty. At that time a snake bit her and she was admitted to Manipal K.M.C. Hospital. But she could not survive and on Monday afternoon at 2.00 pm she passed away. As per the complaint given by her daughter Susheela the case has been registered in Kota Police Station.
 
 
Udupi, 14 September 2011: A staff from the Udupi Deputy Commissioner’s office has been preparing the forged documents. The accused is Hassan, who is the Group D staff in the D.C. Office. On 7th September evening he asked for the round seal of the office with Ravishankar who is Grade II Assistant in the office, he asked him to take it from his drawer.
 
Hassan took the seal, but Ravishankar got suspicious on the papers on which he was stamping, so he inspected them and found that those papers were not of the office, but some other forged papers of land conversion created in computer and it was found that Hassan was illegally stamping on them.
 
Immediately Ravishankar brought this to the notice of Department Supervisor. Accordingly Ravishankar gave complaint to Udupi Police Station and the investigation is going on. There are possibilities that there could be more such creation of forged documents, and this is not just the work of Hassan, but there could be others involved with him.
