Ranchi, Oct 3, 2013 (IANS): A special CBI court Thursday jailed former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad for five years and fined him Rs.25 lakh for his involvement in the fodder scam.

The court of Pravas Kumar Singh also sentenced former chief minister Jagannath Mishra and Janata Dal-United MP Jagdish Sharma to four years in prison each.

While Mishra was fined Rs.2 lakh, Sharma has been fined Rs.5 lakh.

With Thursday’s sentencing, Lalu Prasad, the founder leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, becomes the second politician to lose membership of parliament in line with a Supreme Court ruling.
