M’luru: MLC Ivan urges CM to approve package for laborers to cope with Covid-19 lockdown extn

Mangaluru, 14 Apr 2020: Karnataka MLC Ivan D’Souza, here on Tuesday, April 14, drew the attention of DK district administration on irregularities at the ration shops because those who have applied for BPL cards well before Covid-19 national lockdown and other poor families who have no BPL cards were denied rations.
D’Souza also said despite DK district-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary instructed food and civil supplies department officials to supply boiled rice that is the staple food of coastal residents to ration cardholders; they are provided with white rice. Besides, minister’s instruction to provide ration to poor household families without ration cards; they are denied of basic food to survive at these testing times.
He urged CM B S Yeddyurappa to approve package for laborers in order to cope with Covid-19 extended nationwide lockdown.
‘It’s an irony that now-a-days, the people’s representatives from gram panchayats, legislative assembly, parliament are only after vote bank politics and not really concerned of the welfare of the people of their respective constituencies,’ said Ivan.
