NSS Unit of St. Lawrence Composite PU College to organise Annual Special Camp from 18 to 24 October

Moodubelle, 16 October 2010: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle will organize the Annual Special Camp from 18 to 24 October 2010 in the premises of Shri Narayanaguru English Medium School, Padubelle. This Annual Special Camp will be formally inaugurated by Mr.  Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA from Kaup Constituency on Monday, 18 October 2010 at 3 pm. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Correspondent of the Parish Educational Institutions will preside over the inaugural function.

 

Fr. Charles Lewis, Parish Priest of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor, Mr. Jaya C. Suvarna, Pesident, Billava Association, Mumbai,  Mr. S.S. Shinda, Deputy Director of PU Education Department, Mr. Vasant Salian, President of the Local Committee of the Billava Association, Mr. Jyothi K. Suvarna, Secretary of the Billava Association, Mumbai,  Mrs. Jacintha Aranha, President of the Blle Grama Panchayat, Mr. Jinaraj C. Salian, Headmaster of the Shri Narayanaguru English Medium School, Padubelle, Mr. John Menezes, Retired Principal of St. Lawrence PU College and Mr. Maurice Noronha, Retired Teacher of Pamboor HP School are expected to attend the inaugural function.

 

During the Annual Special Camp, the NSS volunteers will have their regular routine starting from 5 am till 10 pm. Besides physical exercise and manual work in the morning and forenoon, the volunteers will be addressed by different resource persons in the field of personality development, leadership qualities, social service, national integrity, etc. in the afternoon. In the evening the volunteers will present cultural programmes.

 

 

The NSS Unit of St Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle was started in the year 2005. The NSS Unit has 100 volunteers out of whom 50 are boys and 50 are girls. The present NSS Unit Programme Officer is Mr.Edward Larsen D’Souza.

During the last five years, the NSS Unit of St. Lawrence Composite PU College had conducted Annual Special Camps at different places such as Alevoor,Shankerapura,Kanajar,Hirgan and Ajekar. This year’s Annual Special Camp is being organized at Shri Narayanaguru English School, Padubelle.

 

The preparation for this Annual Special Camp has already begun. Mr. Edward Larsen D’Souza, the Programme Officer  has taken the initiative in organizing the camp by involving the communities of Moodubelle and Padubelle. The State Government partly subsidises this seven days residential Annual Special Camp which is not adequate to run the camp effectively. Hence, the organisers of this NSS Annual Special Camp solicit sponsorship from generous persons.
