FIESTA -- dance performances

Manipal, 30 March 2012: The students of Masters in European Studies and Management (MESM) presented a splendid display of different dance forms like; ballet, modern Afro-western, LechugaTrabajador and Bharatnatyam at FIESTA -- Festivities of Indian and European Synergy in Tradition and Art  -- at  Madhav Vihar, here on Friday. The icing on the cake was the marvellous Fusion, which left the audience wanting for more.

 

 
Emily a Study Abroad Program (SAP) student began the evening with a stunning display of classical European ballet.  A trained classical ballet dancer, Emiliy  was simply amazing.  Brittany Anne Gadbury presented the Modern Afro-Western dance. Her performance was a tribute to traditions but modern in style. This dance form is originally from Europe. The combination of African American vocals, set to Latin music, was spell-binding.

 
Aparna Sharma, a national awardee, enthralled the audience with her presentation of  Bhratnatyam. The nationally renowned dancer, was well-received by every single person present at the amphitheatre. She was given a standing ovation for what was truly an outstanding performance.

 The Western Dance vein was presented by a Study Abroad Program Student from the US, Grantis Peranda. He held sway over the audience with a fluid dance piece, “LechugaTrabajador”. It was a rendition of (Hispanic) American modern dance pioneer Jose Limon style and uses his created technique of “fall and recovery”. The dance form is said to have originated in Europe. The Fusion dance was outstanding.
