Mangalore: DC to hold special meeting on parking issue during Aug 2014

Mangalore, 19 Jul 2014: As the city is facing shortage of parking areas, a special meeting will be held in coming month to find solution to this issue, said Deputy Commissioner A b Ibrahim.
Addressing the monthly meeting of Mangalore Urban development Authority (MUDA) here on Saturday July 19, DC Ibrahim said that the parking areas don’t suffice for rapidly growing Mangalore city. The rise in vehicular traffic outstretched the roads limit. There are many instances wherein builders of high rise commercial and apartment complexes violated the norms by not providing adequate parking lots, said DC Ibrahim.
A few real estate developers have built their building without provision for footpath and encroached upon city roads, which has worsened the traffic and parking problem. As per MUDA norms, the visitors to apartment complexes ought to be allowed to park their cars inside the apartment complex, but that is no so as the signboards are being put up outside the gate prohibiting visitors vehicles inside the complex. It’s the violation of norms, said DC Ibrahim. He instructed MUDA officials to take action on violators of this norm.
