Udupi : Ganeshotsava concludes with grand procession and immersion of the idol of the deity in Mood

Udupi/M’belle, 12 Sep 2013 : The three days long Ganeshotsava organized by the Sarvajanika Shri Ganeshotsava Samiti-Belle-Kattingeri in its 34th year concluded on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 with a grand procession and immersion of the idol of Ganesh in a pond in Thirlapalke.
The Ganeshotsava was organized in the Gita Mandir near Sante-katte from Monday, September 9 to Wednesday, September 11, with the usual religious rituals, cultural programmes, sports and Mahaannasantarpane, that is, the community meal. People of Belle-Katingeri and neighbouring villages participated in many of the activities associated with the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava irrespective of caste and religion.
On Wednesday, after the final religious ritual, the beautiful Ganesh idol was placed on the decorated vehicle and the grand procession began at 5.30 pm. There were tableaus comprising of doll dances, tiger dances and loud music accompanied by Nasik Band.
The procession passing through the Moodubelle Main Road, first proceeded to Ganapana Katte and after a while it returned by the same route. In the township firecrackers sponsored by the Melpete Friends were burst. A large number of villagers participated in the procession.
On reaching Thirlapalke at about 10 pm, the idol of Ganesh was immersed in the pond, thus bringing down the curtain to this years Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava. Honorary Presidents of the Samiti-Mukunda Puranik and P.D. Kamat, Presdient-Sudhakar Amin, Chief Secretary-Devdas Hebbar, President of the Belle Grama Panchayat-Rajendra Shetty and many of the committee officials and members were present during the procession and immersion of the Ganesh Idol.
