Mangalore, 17 Apr 2013: There exist no differences among the party men in Dakshina Kannada (DK) District Congress Committee (DCC). Congress is truly committed to secularity that has been manifested in issuing 4 party tickets – one each to J R Lobo (Christian) and Abayachandra (Jain), two to U T Khader and Bava (Muslims) among the minority community, in order to contest in the upcoming assembly elections. DK district has 8 constituencies with a total of 13 seats, said veteran Congress leader and former union minister Janardhan Poojary.
Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at DCC election publicity office, Kadri, here on Wednesday April 17 afternoon, Janardhan Poojary said that unity is exemplified in DCC after the latest developments. The enthusiasm among the party activists indeed is overwhelming to actively engage in poll campaigns that are sure to give positive results. The people who are frustrated owing to the corrupt rule of BJP led state administration throughout five-year term seek a change and Congress is their choice that can guarantee equality, added Janardhan Poojary.
In reply to one of the queries of media persons, Poojary said that Vijay Kumar Shetty was a strong contender for party ticket to contest from Suratkal. Despite the ticket was issued to Bava, there lies no misunderstandings of whatsoever as reported in a few dailies. Vijay Kumar Shetty was convinced of decision taken by high command and is co-operating with the common goal of bringing Congress back to rule the state, said Poojary.
AICC member and Karnataka assembly elections overseer K A Thomas, AICC member K V Mohan, DCC president Ramanat Rai, veteran Congressmen Kodijal Ibrahim, Mangalore south candidate J R Lobo, Ullal candidate U T Khader and others were present at the occasion.
