Moodubelle: Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala organizes Taluk level Janapada Yuva Sanskriti-2012

Moodubelle, 18 Dec 2012: The Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala Edmeru in association with Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Youth Service and Sports Department, Udupi, Taluk Panchayat and Belle-Kattingeri Grama OPanchayat organized a daylong Udupi Taluk level Janapada Yuva Sanskriti-2012 on Sunday, December 16, 2012 to showcase the folk culture presented by different youth groups from different parts of the Udupi Taluk.
In the morning at 9.30 am, a grand procession was organized from Naalkubeedhi to Edmeru School, the venue of the Youth gathering. The procession was inaugurated by Shivram Salian, member of Belle Grama Panchayat. School children from Edmeru School, NSS students from St. Lawrence College and St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle, women volunteers from Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabhivruddhi Yojane and Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala members participated in the procession led by the Nasik Band.
The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, member of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat. Mrs. Jacintha Aranha, president of the Belle Grama Panchayat presided over the inaugural function. Other dignitaries on the dais included Devdas Hebbar, former president of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Benedict Martis, Kum. Suchitra Acharya, advocate from Bangalore, Gururaj Bhat, social worker from Edmeru, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, Harish kotian, president of Taluk Yuvajana Okkuta, Narayan Rao, Youth Service and Sports Department deputy officer, Santosh Kumar, president of Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala, Vivekananda Shetty, headmaster of Edmeru School.
Following the inaugural function various competitions were held in different aspects of folk culture including kolata, lavani, rangageethe, folk dance, mono acting, yakshagana, dollu kunitha, etc.
In the evening the valedictory function and the annual programme of the Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala was inaugurated by Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA of Kaup Constituency. Suresh Gurme, social worker from Kaup and Yashpal Suvarna, president of the Fisheries Confederation, Udupi were ther chief guests. Other dignitaries included Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, Devdas Hebbar, Fr. Paul Sequeira, principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle, K.V. Kudanthaya, folklore researcher, Vivekananda Shetty, Henry Alva, Shivram Salian and others.
During the function, Peter Raphael Aranha, retired headmaster of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle and Mantesh hedge Kattingeri, president of Pimpri-Chinchwad-Pune Tulukoota Presdient and social worker were honoured by presenting them with shawl s, fruits and mementos.
As part of the annual function, the members of the Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala presented Tulu comedy play “Thoovare Barper…” written by Dinakara Bhandary, Kanajaru and directed by Prabhakara Acharya, Edmeru.
