Udupi: “Konkani” – Preserve rich culture of this language

Udupi, 23 September 2011: Konkani language has 42 communities as its mother tongue. Every community has its own unique lifestyle, celebration and traditions. There are many books and literatures, but with the effects of the modern electronic media the reading of these books has reduced among the younger generations. Konkans must be watchful on this, Konkani is a rich language and its values are to be preserved, said Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy President, actor, director Kasargod Chinna.
He was speaking upon receiving the felicitation by Gowda Saraswatha Community organized by Udyavara Shri Vittala Temple. Dr. H. Shantharam Manipal Senior Education Scholar presided over the function. On the dias Udupi Krishi Market Samithi President K. Suresh Nayak, Dr. Devdas Pai and Katapadi Temple Managing Trustee Baburao Kamath were present.
Shri Temple Managing Trustee Nagesh Kamath along with the other guests, felicitated Chinna. Musical album of “Uzvod” movie was released by Dr. H. Shantharam on this occasion. A.M. Hegde introduced the guests. Vinutha Acharya compeered the program. Rajgopal Kamath proposed vote of thanks.
