Mangalore: Coulourful Diwali celebrated at Karavali College

Mangalore, 05 November 2010: Diwali is celebrated at Karavali Group of Colleges in the city, on Wednesday night 03 November. The grand celebration was held at the premises of the Karavali Institute of Technology at Neerumarga. S. N. Ganesh Rao – Founder President of G. R. Education Trust and Karavali College, inaugurated the celebration by lighting the lamp. Students celebrated Diwali in the College well in advance as they would be going home to celebrate the festival on November 6.
Girl students welcomed the festival of lights by lighting the traditional ‘diyas’ inside and around the College, which was followed by bursting of fire crackers. All gathered students enjoyed festive celebration and the sky was colourful with the special fireworks.
Ganesh Rao spoke on the occasion and said “We have students from far away places and we did not want them to miss their parents and these festive celebrations. So we joined them in this special occasion and celebrated Diwali together”. He also said that “Let the light of the Diwali unite the people of our region, and the knowledge and the smile spread everywhere”.
Also present in the celebration were the Director of the College Lata S. Rao and other officers along with their children. Students dressed in traditional attires. Dance performances were also staged by students on the occasion.
