London, 01 October 2010: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf is making a comeback into politics. He’s all set to launch his own political party called the All Pakistan Muslim League in London on Friday. The former general had seized power in 1999 when, as chief of Pakistan’s Army, he ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a coup.
The former president was later forced into exile in 2008 after his allies lost the elections. He plans to contest the 2013 general elections in Pakistan. The party launch has attracted many of his supporters to arrive in London from his home country Pakistan, USA, the middle east and more.
"We have teams coming over from Pakistan, USA, Middle East. We already have a big office here, big banners have come over from Pakistan. We’re all very excited," Musharraf told BBC.
The 67-year-old former president will launch the All Pakistan Muslim League in Whitehall as he looks to contest the next elections as a civilian.
