New Delhi, 14 September 2011: Sports minister Ajay Maken announced the new cash reward for the Indian hockey players of Rs 1.5 lakh each for winning the Asian Champions Trophy after players rejected the earlier reward of Rs 25000 offered by Hockey India.

Earlier in the day, the Asian Champion Indian hockey team got upset over the prize money given to them by Hockey India as skipper Rajpal Singh refused to accept the cash prize of Rs 25,000.

India won the Asian Champions Trophy after defeating arch-rivals Pakistan 4-2 via penalty stroke in the summit clash on Sunday.
