Chennai, 18 May 2011: Health concerns are mounting for superstar Rajinikanth. He has been admitted to the hospital twice in the last 14 days. Fans praying his health and so is the entire Tamil film industry with rumours that his 120 crore magnum opus Rana may be shelved.
If his last year’s blockbuster Endiran saw Rajinikanth in a double role, then his next, Rana casts the superstar in a triple role! This multilingual film went on floors as scheduled on April 29. But on that very afternoon Rajinikanth was admitted to St. Isabel’s hospital in Chennai for allergic bronchitis and dehydration.
Rajinikanth’s wife Latha Rajinikanth said, "He was feeling a little uncomfortable, he was a little disturbed in the stomach. We personally felt he need to be brought to hospital and tested. The doctors said let him rest for a while."Despite assurances from the family and the doctors, the superstar was at the hospital for about a week until May 10.
But on May 13th, Rajinikanth was admitted again to hospital again. This time to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre at Porur. The superstar is said to be suffering from respiratory and gastro intestinal problems.
Even though Rajnikanth is still in hospital, the first schedule of Rana - including a song featuring Deepika Padukone - has already been canned. Produced by Eros International and Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya, this film’s budget is touted to be over a 100 crores. Film’s director, KS Ravikumar is hoping to have the superstar back on the sets by July when the second schedule of the film is slated to be shot.
