Mumbai, 18 April 2011: A passenger was injured when three bogies, including the pantry car, of the Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express caught fire near Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh early Monday, an official said here.

An official of Western Railway (WR) said that though the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, it is believed to have started in the pantry car at around 2.30 a.m. Monday near Thuriya station.

"As the train was speeding, the fire spread to two adjoining coaches -- B6 and B7. The pantry car was totally gutted by the time the train stopped," the official said.

Railway officials quickly detached the three burning coaches to prevent further spread of the fire, which was subsequently doused.

Senior railway officials and a medical team rushed to the site. A passenger was injured while helping others to evacuate from the blazing coaches. A few hours later, the train resumed its onward journey to New Delhi via Kota in Rajasthan.
