Mangalore: NSS Unit of Govt First Grade College, Haleyangady Stages Street Play on Aids

Mangalore,21 Mar 2013: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government First Grade College, Haleyangady in association with Haleyangady gram panchayat and Lions Club of Haleyangady organized an Aids awareness programme at Haleyangady, near here on Wednesday March 20.
Dr Bhaskar Kotian, resident medical officer of Primary Health Centre (PHC), Suratkal inaugurated Aids awareness street play here on Wednesday evening.
Dr Kotian in his inaugural address called upon the students to join their hands in building a healthy society. He also said that the youth had to realize the havoc caused by HIV. The self restrain is the key to lead better life in the future, said Dr Kotian.
Haleyangady gram panchayat president Poornima Madhu and Haleyangady Lions Club president Vasant Bernard were the chief guests present.
The students staged a street play at Haleyangady bus stand, disseminating information regarding the causes of AIDS, need for strengthening people’s knowledge about the measures to be taken to prevent HIV/AIDS and adopting preventive health habits and lifestyle. Jagan Pawar Bekal directed the street play.
Malathy K, Gopal M Gokhale, Raghuraj, Dr Mahesh Kumar, Sheenappa, Chitrakshi, Professor Krishnamurthy and Harish were present at the occasion.
