Bangalore: Guruji Joe Mary Lobo Receives CPCI National Excellence Award

Bangalore, 08 Nov 2012: Catholic Priests Conference of India (CPCI) National Excellence Award for diocesan priests was conferred on Fr Joe Mary Lobo, popularly known as ’Guruji’ founder of Sri Christa Sharan Social Development Society (SCS) which was presented by His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore on November 7, 2012, at the Sacred Heart Church, Richmond Road, Bangalore.
Thanksgiving Holy Mass for the Silver Jubilee Year of the Catholic Priests Conference of India, concelebrated by the numerous priests that had gathered from all over India.
Joe Mary M. Lobo Swamiji preached the homily during this holy mass, where he told the gathering that it was not enough to be a Christian. A true disciple of Christ should be Another Christ. The Christians have been goody goody Christians but have not been and are not Another Christ. We need to be Christ like in our service, attitude, brotherly love and forgiveness, he said..
After the Holy Mass, the programme was held at the Sacred Heart Church Hall.
2012 National Excellence Award Confered by the CPCI
The National Excellence Award was conferred on Poojya Guru Joe Mary Lobo Swamiji of Sri Christa Sharan Ashram, Birur, (along with two other Priests, Fr VP Joseph Valiyaveetil (Allepey diocese) and Fr Thomas Joseph Therakam (Mananthavady diocese) for his yeoman service to the ‘ Last, the Least and the Lost! Rev. Fr. Joe Mary Lobo, popularly known as Guruji has served as a priest for 52 years, with various portfolios as a Pastor, Chaplain, Teacher, Diocesan Director in various parishes, schools, and other institutions in the diocese of Chickmagalur. Sri Christa Sharan Social Development Society had been rendering service chiefly in the district of Chikmagalur, in 55 villages of the Kadur taluk. But now, it has extended its service, especially under the joint forest programme to villages in 28 forest ranges in the two districts of Chikmagalur and Shimoga.
