Udupi: Special development program for Koraga Community

Udupi, 16 August 2011: State government has reserved rupees 330 crores for the development of Schedule Caste communities and rupees 1,600 crores for the Schedule Tribes, said District In charge Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya. He was speaking upon inaugurating the Students Hostel for the Schedule Castes in Adi Udupi on Monday.
He said that, in Udupi District this time special programs have been conducted for the development of Koraga Community. For the 34 deserved candidates Auto Rickshaw, 29 deserved candidates Taxi and 30 deserved candidates housing letters have been issued, he said. On this occasion scholarships to the students of Koraga community who are doing the higher studies and the deserving candidates under the housing scheme have been issued the second installment money.
The program was presided over by Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat. Other guests and dignitaries present on the occasion were; Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary, Municipal Corporation President Kiran Kumar, Vice President Bharathi Chandrashekar, Local Municipal Corporation members; Ravi Amin and Indira Shekar.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.T. Reju, Jilla Panchayath Administrative Officer Prabhakara Sharma, Municipal Corporation Ayuktha Gokuldas Nayak, Nirmiti Centre Project Director Arun Kumar were also present on the dias. Samagra Girijana Abhivraddi Yojane Project Officer Urmila welcomed the guests and the gathering.
