Udupi, 19 April 2011: All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit Udupi on Wednesday as part of his nationwide interaction programme with the youth in general and All India Youth Congress cadre in particular. Nearly 1,000 youth Congress workers from 1,450-odd polling booths in Dakshina Kannada will attend the meet from the district, said Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president B Ramanath Rai.
Noting that Wednesday’s function to be held at M G M College ground was not a public function, Rai told reporters here on Monday that it would serve as an opportunity for Rahul Gandhi to meet and interact with the youth. Rahul Gandhi has no engagements in Mangalore, Rai said adding that entry to the event would be strictly regulated by passes. The party would select one youth from each of the booth from the district, he noted.
