Udupi: Black Panther rescued at Kokkarne

Udupi, 12 Sep 2013: A Black Panther was found at Kokkarne and was rescued by the officials of Forest department Udupi on Wednesday, September 11.

 

 

The Range Forest Officer, Prakash Poojary said that the villagers informed the officials at 8.30 a.m. It was a daunting task that took the team nearly 30 to 45 minutes to drive the panther into a cage. It was then brought to the Range Forest Office in Udupi.

 

The Forest officials said that this was a rare sight and first time in the history of department that a Black Panther was seen and the same would be taken to the Kudremukh National Park.
