Shirva: Vinaya Kumar Sorake inaugurates Job Oriented Skill Training at Don Bosco Tech

Udupi, 09 Aug 2013: Vinaya Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in Charge of the Udupi Distirct inaugurated Job Oriented Skill Training and also distributed certificates to the first batch trainees of Don Bosco Tech, at a function held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10 am at the Don Bosco Youth centre Hall, Benjith Nagar Shirva.
Prior to the inauguration of the courses, Vinaya Kumar Sorake was received by offering him garland by Fr. Maxim D’Souza, Director of the Don Bosco Youth Centre along with Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, parish priest of Our lady of Health Church, Shirva and the students of Don Bosco Tech.
Mrs. Jacintha Perieira of Trasi presented the various activities of Don Bosco Tech through Power Point Presentation and also by explaining the various courses that are being offered by the institution and the procedure of admission and training.
Following the prayer by the students and welcome address by Miss Carol Lobo, Vinaya Kumar Sorake along with the dignitaries on the dais-Rev. fr. Stany Tauro, Fr. Maxim D’Souza, Fr. Augustine Fernandes, Administrator of Don Bosco Youth Centre, David D’Souza, President of Mudarangady Grama Panchayat, Hasanabba Shaikh, President of Shirva Grama Panchayat and Br. James Marcos of Don Bosco Tech, Trasi, formally inaugurated the Job Oriented Skill Training at Don Bosco Tech Shirva by lighting the lamp.
Twelve successful first batch trainees were awarded certificates by Vinaya Kumar Sorake and Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro. Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Tauro said that by starting the Job Oriented Skill courses in a village like Shirva, the Don Bosco Institution has shown a new path to the students who are unable to continue their higher education. He wished that the institution, with the help from the state government would start a Polytechnic or ITI in Shirva. Hasanabba Shaikh complimented the Don Bosco Youth Centre for their initiative in starting the courses and promised all help from the Shirva Grama Panchayat.
Vinaya Kumar Sorake was honoured by offering him shawl, garland, fruits and memento. The citation was read by Mrs. Girija Kulal.
As the chief guest of the function, Vianya Kumar Sorake in his address appreciated the work of spreading education undertaken by the Catholic institutions. He said that initiative to give job oriented skills to the rural youth was taken by late Rajiv Gandhi and the Don Bosco Youth Centre has taken the right step to promote job oriented skill training to the rural youth. He assured all support from the central as well as the state government to promote such technical education in rural areas.
In his presidential message, Fr. Maxim D’Souza, Director of the Don Bosco Youth Centre said that, the Shirva branch of the youth centre is the twelfth in the state of Karnatka and third in the Udupi District, the other two being one at Trasi and the other at Bela. He asked the students to dream big and work to achieve their dreams by undergoing training in the institution as per their interest and ability.
Sampath Shirva, Project Coordinator of the Don Bosco Tech compeered the programme and student Roshan D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
Following the stage programme, Delisha and her group presented the prayer dance and students of the Don Bosco Tech presented variety entertainment programme.
