Moodubelle: Dr. AV Baliga Institute’s NSS Camp successfully concluded at Nellikatte

Moodubelle, 06 Jan 2012: The seven days long fifth Annual NSS Camp of Dr. AV Baliga Institute of Social Sciences and Rural Management, Haradi, Brahmavara was successfully concluded on December 31, 2011 at the Jnanaganga PU College, Nellikatte. The camp had started on December 25, 2011.
Rajya Prashasthi winner, Prof. Vineetha K. of Mangalore School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya and NSS Programme Officer was the chief guest for the valedictory function. In her message, Prof. Vineetha said that along with social work, NSS provided the students to develop their personality and leadership qualities.
M. Gopikrishna Rao, President of the Jnanaganga PU College presided over the valedictory function. In his address, Mr. Rao said that NSS plays an important role in the development of a nation. The daily evaluation of their work has helped the NSS volunteers to review their performance.
The guests of honour for the valedictory function included-Devdas Hebbar-President of the Udupi taluk Panchayat, Shripati Acharya-eminent senior lawyer of Udupi, Madhukara B.-Divisional Officer of LIC, Mumbai, Pranhakar KS-Director of the Jnanaganga PU College, Suresh Shetty-treasurer and Principal UL Bhat and Principal of Dr. AV Baliga Institute-Mrs. Swapna Ganesh.
Mrs. Sulakshana-lecturer of the PU College joined the NSS group for prayer, Kum. Prashanti-camp officer welcomed the guests, camp officer-Manjappa Goni read the report of the camp, Raghu-Physical Director of the PU College, and NSS group leaders-Anil Kumar and Kum. Defia expressed their experience of the camp. NSS volunteers-Rajesh Shetty and Jeevitha read out the list of the sponsors and prize winners respectively, Kum Chaitra compeered the programme and Navin Kumar M-NSS Camp officer proposed the vote of thanks.
During the camp days there were lectures by eminent resource persons on different topics such as personality development, environment protection, mental and physical health etc.
On December 29, 2011, the NSS volunteers of the camp presented a street play highlighting the evil effects of alcoholism and HIV/AIDS near Moodubelle Bus Stand.
