Man’s hands chopped off allegedly for Rs 300 in Bihar

Arwal/Gaya, 02 Mar 2012: A senior police officer has been asked to probe the complaint filed by a daily wager Ram Sagar Chandravanshi that his hands were chopped off by some persons after he failed to repay them the money he had taken from them, police sources said.

 

Chandravanshi (20) in his complaint had said that he had borrowed Rs 300 from some persons in his hometown (Arwal) recently and his hands were chopped off when he failed to repay the money.

 

A complaint has been lodged by police on the basis of the statement of Chandravanshi who was undergoing treatment at the Patna Medical College Hospital ( PMCH) in Patna.

 

DIG (Magadh Range) Nayyar Hasnain Khan said he had asked the Arwal Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Naveen Jha to head a special team to probe the complaint thoroughly.

 

The ASP would also ensure the recording of the statement of Chandravanshi and seek opinions from medical experts about the nature of injuries that the victim had suffered.

 

On the basis of the complaint, six persons have been named in the case.

 

Arwal SP Vimal Kumar had yesterday vehemently denied the reports that Chandravanshi’s hands werechopped off by some people after he had expressed inability to repay the money that he had taken as loan from them sometime back and said that the reports were found to be ’concocted’ during preliminary investigation.

 

Kumar further said that the police had received information that Chandravanshi had "lost his hands near Danapur in Patna in an accident on the railway track."
