Shirva: “The culture of Tulunadu is great”- Umanath Kotian

Shirva, 26 Nov 2012: “Tulu culture has been influencing the life of the people of Tulunadu in great way through good traditions, customs and values. Hence, the culture of Tulunadu is great”, said Umanath A. Kotian, President of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academi after inaugurating three days long Seminar on Tulu Poetry Singing at St. Mary’s College, Shirva on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 9.30 am.
In the same address, Umanath Kotian lamented that with the changing times and modernization, this Tulu culture is gradually waning. It is important for the younger generation to preserve and continue this sublime culture for the next generations to come.
The inaugural function was presided over by Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Correspondent of St. Mary’s Educational Institutions. In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Stany tauro said that Tulu language is being spoken by people of all communities residing in the Tulunadu. This common language has brought people closer irrespective of their religion or community. He wished success to the Seminar.
Mrs. Katyayini Kunjibettu who was the chief guest of the inaugural function in her message said that while curriculum enables the development of knowledge, literature and music appeals to the hearts of humans and brings out the best in them.
Dr. S. Padmanabha Bhat, Professor of Kannada and member of the Tulu Sahitya Academi introduced the purpose behind the Seminar on Tulu Poetry Singing and welcomed the gathering. Lecturer, Kum. Nisha, proposed the vote of thanks and Ashwin Lawrence Cornelio, Moodubelle compeered the programme.
