Alert bus passengers nab woman pick-pocket

Bangalore, 19 October 2010: Alert BMTC bus passengers caught a woman who was about to escape after lifting jewellery from their wallets at Bharathinagar on Tuesday.

 

 

The suspect, Bhagya (22), was handed over to the police.

 

Bhagya got into a BMTC bus (route number 300-Banaswadi to Shivajinagar) on Mosque Road. She managed to cut the wallets of passengers Saraswathi and Rukmini and collected jewellery worth more than Rs one lakh. She got down at Coles Park in a hurry.

 

Saraswathi and Rukmini grew suspicious and checked their wallets which were torn apart and the jewellery missing. They immediately requested the driver to stop the bus, got down, and caught hold of Bhagya. They called up the police and handed her over to them.

 

Bhagya, a resident of Nelamangala had taken to pick-pocketing. Basaveshwarnagar police had arrested her in 2008 for similar offense.
