Kuwait: KCWA Celebrates Christmas with Grandeur at ICSK Auditorium

Kuwait, 7 Dec 2013: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) celebrated its Christmas at the leadership of their president Anil Fernandes at ICSK auditorium, Khaitan, here on Friday December 6.

 

Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais, Provincial Minister of Capuchin Provincialate, Karnataka was the chief guest.

 

The program commenced with Christmas star competition which exhibited talents of members who showed their creativity followed by live singing by Kuwait’s popular singers Lancy Rodrigues, Joyline Gonsalves and Orson D’Souza. Kiran Gonsalves provided the playback music.

 

Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais and Fr Noel D’Almeida felicitated sponsors of the event and scholarship sponsors on the same occasion.

 

The merit scholarships sponsored by Sam Alphonso, Felix Saldanha Saldanha, Lawrence D’Souza and Nithin Castelino were awarded to the students of Class X and II PUC from Kuwait and India, for their academic excellence.

 

Herald D’Souza of ‘Spinns Confectionery’ sponsored extra-curricular award for the members’ children, was awarded for the children who won in the CBSE inter-school competitions, inter-college competitions or represented the school outside the state/country in the academic year 2012-13. 

 

Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais delivered the Christmas message to the gathering.

 

Lots of spot prizes were awarded in between the dance session.

 

Christmas tableau directed by Lancy Rodrigues and played by Fr Noel D’ Almeida, Anil Fernandes, Anil Menezes and Lydia Misquith along with a message was the highlight of the event.  The music for the tableau was provided by Kiran Gonsalves.

 

The Abbasiya Group sang the Christmas carols. Children were excited, as they were loaded with lots of chocolates and gifts, once Santa made his entry.

 

Prizes were distributed to the Christmas Star competition winners.  Special member’s draws were held for the active members present on the venue, and also for the renewal of the memberships for 2014 and life members. Hamper draw was held with fabulous prizes during the event. Alger Mathias and Rudy D’ Souza bagged the first prize for highest selling of hampers.

 

 

A painting of Trevor was auctioned among audience.  Auction of Silver Christmas tree was held as a part of fundraising for the education of poor children in India.

 

A sentimental dance on unwanted girl childbirth was presented by Talent competition group dance category winner ’Desi Strikers’ which was appreciated by everyone.

 

Fr Noel D’ Almeida prayed for graces before meal.  A grand dinner prepared by Caesars Restaurant was served to all.

 

As a final part of 25 years of its existence, KCWA will be having a grand celebration on April 25 2014 along with musical concert ‘Metro to Retro’ by a popular troupe from Mangalore along with top Konkani singers Adolf Jayatilak and internationally famous Konkani drama ‘Aami Nathlyaa Vellar’ will be presented by Daiji Rang Mandir- Dubai.

 

Deepak Andrade, Manohar and Reema D’Souza compered the programme.  Steven Misquith and others assisted for the success of the event. Anil Fernandes welcomed the gathering.  Raja Aranha proposed vote of thanks.
