Moodbidri, 15 Jun 2014: The largest campus placement drive, ‘Alva’s Pragathi-2014’ was organized by Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri at Vidyagiri campus on June 14 for the fifth time.
Dr. S.B. Sripad, assistant labour commissioner, inaugurated the two-day job mela and said that educational institutions should provide information about the job availability for particular qualification and it also guide students in getting the jobs.
“Job mela helps students not only obtain job but also help them to face the challenges in the corporate world,” he added.
Tusli Maddineni, Chief executive officer, Zilla Panchayat, Dakshina Kannada, said that students should try to get the job that suits their educational qualification. This kind of campus placement drive helps them to catch the right job.
Dr. Mohan Alva, founder, Alva’s Education Foundation, delivered the key note address. K. Amarnath Alva, former minister was present as chief guest.
Vivek Alva, trustee, Alva’s Education Foundation, was present. Prof. Kurien, principal, Alva’s College, welcomed the gathering. Prof. Alexander, Placement officier, introduced the guests. Prof. Deepa Kottari compered the programme.
The job fair witnessed nearly 16,000 students trying their best to get placement, including 4,739 spot registrations, 10,712 online registrations and 1,467 walk-ins from ITI.
Over 216 companies from 11 sectors like IT, hospitality, manufacturing, automobile, healthcare, BFSI, media, sales and retail, NGO and education, BPO/KPO and HR agencies participated on the first day.
The companies like Titan, Videocon, Oracle, E&Y, IBM, UAE Exchange, NMC, Narayana Hrudyalaya, Biocon, Aditya Birla group, TechMahindra, Godrej, ITC, Kirloskar Electric, L&T, Taj Group, ICICI Bank, Wipro, TVS, Allcargo, Xchanging, Aegis and Capgemini participated in the job fair.
