Mumbai, 24 Nov 2013: NCC directorate of Maharashtra celebrated its sixty-fifth anniversary with a grand parade and pageantry at army ground, Colaba, here on Saturday November 23.
Lieutenant General P R Shankar, General Officer Commanding (GOC), MG & G Area, Mumbai was the chief guest, who reviewed an impressive Guard of Honour given by the NCC Cadets.
Lieutenant General P R Shankar congratulated the NCC cadets for their high standard of drill and spectacular turnout and impressive performance.
The event was also attended by a host of military and civilian dignitaries.
The event was given additional glamour by the presence of a former NCC cadet Adi Godrej, who has spared his valuable time to attend the function thereby, boosted the morale of the cadets and staff.
During the event various NCC activities were displayed. This included Dog Fights by Air Wing, Ship/Sea models by Naval Wing and Battle Drills by Army Cadets.
A colourful cultural show followed these events which culminated with display of NCC activities by units of Mumbai.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General S Sengupta, Additional Director General, NCC Maharashtra gave out the activities conducted by the NCC and sterling performance of the Directorate. He also thanked the state government and the military establishment for all the help and support provided.
Lieutenant General PR Shankar complimented NCC Maharashtra for their high standards and the achievements. He exhorted the cadets to take full opportunity of the training, to be worthy citizens of the country to lead it in the future.
