Popular Kadri Garden in mess due to neglect

Mangalore, 09 August 2010:  The proud and picturesque Kadri Garden, one of the important landmarks of Mangalore City is in a mess as it has been neglected by the City Corporation.  There is no maintenance work that has been taken up by the City Corporation for months together. The garden  that has been a favourite place of recreation for the children and adults as well has become  a refuge for  street dogs and grazing ground for cows.

On the rainy Sunday when this reporter accompanied his kids to the park he saw the pathetic condition of the park. Broken Toys, water filled pathway and little waterlogged ponds with mosquito larva which would be the breeding ground for dangerous mosqquitoborn diseases.

Every day this garden used to attract hundreds of tourists and senior citizens used to frequent this garden for morning walk and relaxation. Since recent times  this garden has lost its former charm and attraction due to waterfilled pathways aand overgrown grass. Parents hesitate to send or bring their children to this garden. It is high time that the Mangalore  City Corporation come up with immediate solutions to retore the famous Kadri Garden to its former glory.
