Udupi, 23 July : The family of a person who died when a bus mowed him here on July 14 have taken his dead body to their native village – Soolibavi in Bagalkot district and completed the final rites. However, the family had a shock, when the person who they cremated appeared alive at their door step!
Background of the incident:
A daily wager died on the spot nearby city bus stand, when a bus ran over him, here on July 14 night. His face was fully smashed and on the basis of tattoos, city police informed the victim’s family in Soolibavi, Hunagunda taluk of Bagalkot district.
Tattoos mislead:
The police identified tattoo of Parashappa on the left hand and Anjaneya on the right hand, and a sacred threat of village goddesses on the neck of dead body. When they further investigated, it was learned that a certain Parashuram, a native of Soolibavi in Bagalkot has left for Udupi but not sure whether he had reached here. The police informed his family. Accordingly, Parashurama’s two brothers arrived here. Both took the body to their native village assuming it was of their brother thirty-four-year-old Parashurama Nagappa Hulyala, on the basis of tattoos on his body. They completed the final rites. However, the family had a shock, when Parashuram himself appeared at the door step. It indeed brought themk great joy.
Where was Parashuram through this ordeal?
Parashuram had left his native village to find work in Udupi about 9 months ago and worked in several places here. He would call his family not very often. When a daily wager died in bus mishap in city on July 14, Parashuram was not in town. The family of Parashuram called a few friends of the latter, in order to find out about the where about of him. Parashuram’s family believed he had died in the road mishap in city. At that time, Parashuram was working in a building site in the interiors of Udupi. He did not have his mobile. Meanwhile, he arrives in Udupi to meet his friends on July 20. His friends were aghast in seeing him. They have realized it was a mistaken identity that led to blunder. Parasuram calls his mother and tells her that he is alive, but none of them believed. Parashuram left Udupi on July 21 and arrived at his home. The family who was mourning his death were overjoyed to see him alive and fine.
Who is the dead man?
Yes. Indeed it was amistaken identity that has brought joy to Parashuram’s family in Soolibavi. On the other hand, one wants to know who the dead man is. His family is worried that they have cremated an unidentified body that should have belonged to some other family. It has been a headache to city police who have left to Bagalkot on July 22, with all the information and pics of dead body.
