Bantwal, 27 Feb 2013: ‘I have murdered Soumya is a fact, but it was not intentionally done. I have pushed her to water pond, since I was feared the situation. Later, I bathed in the same pond, confessed the accused Satish at the court.

‘I have loved Soumya since the past many years, but neither Soumya nor her family understood the depth of my love. I tried to convince her several times that was in vain,’ explained Satish. I have gone to barber shop on Monday February 25 afternoon, since the shop was closed I was returning I saw Soumya alightingfrom the bus at Dasakodi. I followed her till Kashekody and caught hold of her. Meanwhile, she tried to escape but I never let her go,’ said Satish.
‘She fell on the ground and was calling for help. I sensed that the people will thrash me. Out of this fear, I strangulated her with my towel by then she was dropped dead. Terrified by this, I threw her dead body into the water pond. Short while later, I bathed in the same pond and walked home as if nothing has happened,’ confessed Suresh at the court.
The police have recovered Soumya’s gold chain from Satish.
Judicial custody:
The court has awarded judicial custody to Satish for 15 days. Bantwal circle inspector Anil Kulkarni informed that the court has awarded judicial custody till March 13.
ZP members Prakash Shetty Thumbe and Chennappa Salian, former MLA Rukmaya Poojary, JDS leader and local resident Tota Krishnappa Kalladka, Radhakrishna Adyantaya, Baltila gram panchayat president Sundar Salian, members Krishnappa Poojary and Yatish Bete visited the grieving family of Soumya.
Protest in front of police station:
The general public staged a protest in front of Bantwal police station alleging that the police are trying to rescue the accused Satish as mentally-disturbed. The general public presses the judiciary to award gallows to Satish as he was mentally sane in taking the life of innocent Soumya in his one-sided love.
